Kings Falls Circuit Walk
This is a peaceful bush walk suitable for most levels of walker. From the small, dirt car park close to the top of Waterfall Gully Road it is an easy pleasant circuit of about one kilometre.
The track takes you through stands of black sheoaks and past 75 year old grass trees. Watch for the many varieties of wildflower, some quite small, that flower beside the track in spring.
The track is well defined with a good surface. Boardwalks cross the gullies and steps make the climbs easier.
The waterfall can best be seen from the track as it winds along the opposite hill but a lookout above the falls looks down to the water and out across the Selwyn Fault towards the sea. The water in the falls varies from nothing during a drought to a trickle in normal seasons with stronger flows after rain.
The track returns to the car park but you can lengthen your walk by taking a section of the Two Bays Walking Track up to Seawinds, a 4 km walk with sensational views.
