Hastings Foreshore Walk
This 6 kilometre return walk starts from the Hastings Pier with its historic fish shed. Take the path which circles the restaurant and continue past the playground and skate ramp and on through the lightly treed, shady park towards the tennis courts.
After leaving the tennis courts behind the park opens up to a large grassy leash free area so be prepared to meet some friendly dogs and their owners. Follow the track to the end of the grassed area where a 400 metre boardwalk takes you across the salt marsh to Jack Babington Park.
Return via the boardwalk then turn left and follow the foreshore past the mangroves, an important fish nursery for Westernport. From this track there is a lovely view of the upper reaches of the bay with moored yachts and the jetty framed by French Island in the distance. Return to your starting point along the path which skirts the waters edge.
You could perhaps then end this pleasant walk with coffee or lunch on the Pelican Pantry balcony which looks out to the jetty and harbour.
