Arthurs Seat Circuit Walk

Arthurs Seat Circuit Walk

This 1.8km circuit takes you through Seawinds Gardens to Arthurs Seat summit and return.

Starting from the Seawinds carpark you are guided through the gardens to the Bay Lookout which gives spectacular views of the Southern Peninsula to Bass Strait, The Heads and across the bay to the Bellarine Peninsula.  Continue on through the gardens to the Northern Lookout which shows extensive views of the Northern Peninsula and the bay.

A shady trail leads down to a short boardwalk across a gully before climbing the hill to the Matthew Flinders Cairn and another spectacular lookout across the bay.  From the cairn the track climbs steeply, crossing Arthurs Seat Road close to Murrays Lookout, more wonderful views, then winds up to the Arthurs Seat Summit.  The historic Lookout Tower is now closed to the public but a viewing platform looks out to the North.  The track continues through picnic grounds, across Arthurs Seat Road, past the Seawinds Nursery Volunteers Indigenous Garden and back to the starting point.

This is a varied and interesting walk combining formal gardens, natural bush, picnic grounds, historic markers and extraordinary panoramic views.  It is not a difficult walk but some sections are steep.
